The Beginning...

The Taking Responsibility Project:
The CaPRI is the legacy of the Jamaica Economy Project, better known as the Taking Responsibility Project. From 2004 to 2006, the Taking Responsibility: The Jamaican Economy Since Independence Project (JEP) engaged a network of researchers in a comprehensive interdisciplinary inquiry into the economic performance of Jamaica since independence, grounded in robust analyses and geared towards practical policy recommendations for national development. The broad based interest that the JEP had generated and the commitment of its multiple stakeholders, as well as the effective demand for efficient and consistent delivery of high quality research with which the project has become associated, made the institutionalisation and expansion of the project into a Caribbean Think Tank necessary.
